PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Belfast City Council retained JD McGeown Ltd on the basis of its capability and capacity to deliver against its bespoke requirements on the installation of a revolutionary and new “intelligent” lighting system.
This innovative £330 000 project is the first of its kind in Europe and the first outside of the United States. The revolutionary lighting system has monetary efficiencies for Belfast Council which will be realised with a £9000 per annum reduction in its electricity bill as well as a further £5000 savings per annum in maintenance charges .An additional attribute of the system is its reduction in carbon emissions of 80 tonnes per annum.
JD McGeown Ltd delivered to the challenges presented by this project. These included installation within a 6 week time frame, secured through meticulous pre planning and team management working together with Belfast City Council’s Property Maintenance Office.
Belfast City Hall is a listed and landmark building where our engineers were presented with health and safety difficulties which were managed and overcome. The installation of the unique lighting system at the iconic Belfast building demanded that our engineers gain access to non-traditional electrical routes which were potentially time consuming and high risk.
Belfast City Hall remained fully operational during the installation of the lighting system as our engineers were mindful to avoid any disruption to the Councils working schedule. To achieve these engineers had to be available outside normal working hours.
